Problem
Users are not engaged by the site's jobs.
Summary
TrackFive develops niche industry job boards, with one of our primary industries being travel nursing. In this project, I researched what job information needs to be provided from the nurses viewpoint and what information can be provided from the recruiting agency's viewpoint. With this information, I wireframed, prototyped, and tested a new design for the job preview with a goal of increasing engagement.
Research & Validation
In order to validate our problem and properly address it, I interviewed and surveyed both nurses, looking for jobs, and recruiting agencies, posting the jobs.
When talking with nurses, I observed that the major decision making information like pay rate, shift, duration, and start date wasn't currently included on our site's jobs.
What details do you need to see in order to become interested in a job?

What information would you prefer to provide to travel nurses about assignments?

When talking with recruiting agencies, we found that most would be willing to provide major information like shift, duration, and start date.
However, while recruiting agencies were open to providing pay rate they had few concerns which prevented them from including it. These concerns centered around the competitive nature of the industry and the inefficiencies of trying to provide an accurate pay rate for each job posting.
Ideation & Wireframing
Research told us that the main pain point with our current page was the lack of important information to trigger a "click". In addition, we needed to ease some of the hesitations the recruiting agencies had with providing this information.
I also considered the entire experience: from a user entering our site to their search for specific jobs.

Visual Design
Mobile Emphasis
I put an emphasis on the mobile responsiveness of the design, since more than 80% of our users are on mobile. This ensuring that all necessary information would be included even on the smaller screen size.

Valuable Information
My research indicated exactly what information was necessary to include on the job preview.
Enhanced Filtering
To create a consistent experience it was important to create filtering options which included the valuable information.

Job Posting
Improving the method of providing this information for our recruiting agencies was essential to encouraging the addition of necessary information.
Full Experience
The new design ensured nurses received the information necessary to encourage engagement, simplified the posting methods for recruiter agencies, and updated the filtering capabilities of the page. These updates resulted in a 40% increase in click-though-rate.
Further steps for the project, that myself and my team are working on include observing long-term how users interact with the new design and improving the experience of getting to this page.
